The inaugural season!
Alexs Marcozza and Nick Roadhouse starred as the festival’s first ever Masters of Ceremony.
Their adventure to ancient Greece in the intro animation introduced the history of the festival trophy,
the Cycladic Head and kicked off the tradition of awarding the trophy to the best animations of the festival.
60 entries in 3 categories from 12 high schools were received with most of them screened in the 2 hour showcase. The first ever festival screening turned out to be “The Adventures of Fishy” by Randal Cruz of Cawthra Park S.S.
Industry sponsors like Nelvana, Max the Mutt Animation School, Sheridan Institute of Technology, Curry’s Artist’s Materials and Frischkorn Audiovisual helped start the paving of the pathway for young animators to enter the field of animation by supporting their work and offering educational and studio job-shadowing opportunities.
